SotD

As a refresher, if you haven’t noticed, the SotD (Song of the Day) doesn’t quite change daily, but more on a whim, while I’m up late doing this or that (schooling or drinking). I have been reading statistics articles, and recovering data from a pseudo-failed external hard drive, and after the music was transferred, I felt like listening to “A Day in the Life” by the Beatles. In searching through imeem, I came across a remix of it, which makes me laugh, but unfortunately, I also enjoy it.

This serves as a reminder, check the sidebar for new music. It may be terrible, and most likely is, but it is what I’m listening to at the time.

Autumn; Memory Lane

For some reason, every year that Fall rolls around, every previous year’s memories come in a flood. I joke internally that my mind and memory work better in the cold weather just like my car, getting chilly air makes my brain’s cylinders fire more efficiently. With the overcast skies and windier days, I warm up. The memories are pleasant, though sometimes they make me solemn, when I keep myself grounded in reality they make me smile as they should.

Just an image grabbed from the net that epitomizes Fall (though not Toledo Falls)

I run through my past (7) years in Toledo, very little comes back from childhood, at least until the snow begins. Mainly thoughts from Swan Park with Chris and the friends of that chapter come about. The logical next steps of my following years in new and better (read: more solitary) apartments, and with them the new friends that came and went.

I think there’s a sensible, and simple explanation for this phenomenon. Every Fall the past 7 years, I had some amount of a break over the Summer, leading in to a new semester of school, so I would be in new classes and meet new people. I had strong links to significant other(s) most the time, so I’d meet both my own new friends, and theirs; a bit of a social explosion.
I walk to and from class to my super secret parking space, under two bridges and up a few steps, but while it’s chilly, my mind wanders to all those times, both better and worse simultaneously.

If I were a director, I’d make short films about my memories.
If I were at all a good DJ, I’d link songs with explanations.
I am neither.

All Deliberate Speed - Mae

I like this song, and I remember a friend introducing me to it, and the band. I think it was her passion when she did so, but explaining how she felt when she listened to it cemented that specific series of moments in my head.

Cruising to the hotel in my tux, acting as the best best man I know how, and getting c-gars from Mikey’s room.

I’m hanging with ladies in Maryland. We’re outside smoking and drinking. Enjoying all of it.
